Holistic Treatments
Dr. Bakir offers the following treatments. Often more than one modality is combined in one session.
Western Functional Medicine
Her functional medicine model of care offers a patient-centered approach to disease improvement and/or resolution. It seeks to answer the question, “Why are you ill?” so you can receive personalized, effective care for your needs.
She will spend time listening to you and gathering your medical history. She will use this information to identify the root cause(s) of the illness, including triggers such as poor nutrition, stress, toxins, allergens, genetics and your microbiome (the bacteria living in and on your body). Test are ordered if necessary Dr. Bakir also explores your history of physical and emotional trauma and offers ways to resolve these.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Still the most widely practiced medicine globally. Though introduced to the US only in the 70’s, has found a solid audience in the 50 years since.Traditional Chinese Medicine encompasses, Acupuncture, Moxabustion, Herbal Medicine, Tuina, Gua Sha and Cupping.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture, which is just one of the treatment modalities or pillars in Oriental Medicine, is based on a complete medical system that is used to diagnose and treat illness, prevent disease and promote health and well being. This is a non-invasive treatment method that has been used for thousands of years to promote natural healing. It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical problems both physical and psychological.
Prior to any treatment with acupuncture a comprehensive medical history is taken in order to diagnose an imbalance or dis-ease according to the Oriental Medical system. This includes such diagnostic techniques as observing the tongue and other aspects of the body, palpating the pulse as well as possibly the abdomen or along any of the energy channels or meridians. From there well structured, individualized treatment plan is designed. Acupuncture treatment involves the painless insertion of fine, sterilized needles into specific acupuncture points in order to circulate, stimulate and nourish one’s Qi and thus the connecting structures and organs. This can eliminate pain, restore balance and stimulate your own innate ability to heal ultimately leading to optimal health and well being.
Electro-Acupuncture
involves stimulating the acupuncture points using a safe, gentle electrical current similar to a TENS unit which is often used in various therapies for the treatment of pain. The electrical stimulation can be applied directly to the handle of an acupuncture needle or used with a small probe with slight pressure at site of an acupuncture point.
Moxabustion
is a type of warming therapy. It can be used alone or with the acupuncture needles. Heat can be applied in a few different ways but whatever the form, it is burned to have the effect of warmth for nourishment and or to increase circulation which is the effect that heat has on the body.
Tui Na
is an Asian form of body work or massage that is more specifically therapeutic than other types of Western massage. As a technique it can be used alone or integrated into an acupuncture treatment.
Auricular or Ear Acupuncture
is a therapy that involves the insertion of very fine needles into certain points on the human ear for the purpose of treating disease, pain and addictions. This is an ancient practice recorded in classical Chinese medical books as well as other cultures. Today Auricular Acupuncture is a more sophisticated scientific procedure which has been refined and perfected through the research of modern scientists such as Dr. Nogier of France and others in China. Through this research definite physiological relationships have been found connecting certain areas of the ear to areas of the body. Auricular acupuncture can be as a primary treatment or as an integral part of acupuncture treatment.
Gua Sha
is a technique wherein the skin is scraped, in strokes, by a round-edged instrument. In western terms, the scraping draws out blood and metabolic waste congesting the surface tissues and muscles, promoting normal circulation and metabolic processes. Gua Sha is valuable in the treatment of pain, in the prevention and treatment of acute infectious illness, upper respiratory and digestive problems, and many acute or chronic disorders.
Cupping
is an ancient Chinese method that creates local congestion. In general, cupping therapy opens the “meridians” or “energy channels” of the body and allows energy to flow freely. Frequently, the practitioner will apply a lubricant to the skin before placing the cups, and then move the cups back and forth across certain area of the body. This combines the effects of cupping with dermal friction therapy (gua sha) and is called “sliding cup” technique. Cupping is frequently used to treat early stage colds and flu, trauma, and muscle pain, especially in the back and shoulders.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) has undergone continual development over the centuries as the causes of illness that afflict mankind have evolved. In its country of origin it is not an alternative form of therapy, but is used in the state hospitals alongside modern medicine. Chinese Herbal Medicine is a complete medical system that is capable of treating disease in all its forms. Although your practitioner will treat whatever complaint you have come for, the traditional view places great importance on preventing disease before it occurs with this brand of Natural Medicine.
Chinese herbs have a profound medicinal effect on the body and have been used to treat illness and general health disorders for thousands of years. Chinese Herbal Medicine formulas are used to help balance and heal the body naturally. They increase immunity, nourish deficiencies, regulate hormones and reduce pain conditions as well as treat many other health disorders.
The goal is to get your body back to health in a natural, safe and effective way. Chinese Herbs come in different forms including raw, powdered, tinctures, and pills. Herbal Medicine is safe and effective when prescribed by an Acupuncturist/Herbalist that is certified in Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Herbal Medicine is regulated by the FDA and has been approved by the World Health Organization.
Chinese Medicine has been used as a front line medicine as demonstrated by the majority of the world’s population since before recorded history, and is still the most widely utilized medical system in the world today. Adverse reactions to Chinese herbs are extremely rare and are negligible when compared to those commonly produced by pharmaceutical drugs. The basis of Herbal medicine comes from nature and is found in the leaves, stems, flowers, roots, seeds and minerals. The herbal medicines used in our wellness center are from high quality patented formulas that come from GMP certified manufacturing facilities here in the US.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine which assists the natural tendency of the human body to heal itself. It acknowledges that all symptoms of ill health are a mere manifestation of the disharmony within the whole person and that it is the patient that requires treatment and not the disease. It has been in existence worldwide for nearly two hundred years and its popularity is rising in the present day.
This complex medical system is derived from both natural medicine and orthodox science. It brings together the best of both worlds.
Homeopathy practitioners utilize natural pharmaceutical science in extremely small doses of substances to stimulate a person’s immune and defense systems. Each medicine is individually prescribed according to the “Law of Similars” that is, a substance which is capable of evoking a certain set of symptoms in an essentially healthy person under controlled research procedures, may become a potential effective therapeutic agent when prepared according to the specifications of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia and prescribed in accordance with Homeopathic standards.
Homeopathic remedies work so effectively because they work with, rather than against, the body’s inherent immune system. Hundreds of thousands of people in over 28 countries use Homeopathic medicines daily and enjoy many benefits including relief of symptoms, cure of ailments, and more vibrant lives because of this wonderful and effective system of medicine!
Blood Microscopy
Dr. Bakir also includes Blood Microscopy, a quick and efficient way of assessing my patient’s nutritional deficiencies, organs stresses, vulnerabilities in their immunity, heavy-metal toxicities and imbalances in acidity or pH. This is not a diagnostic tool but confirms what is already suspected, and also serves to monitor and demonstrate progress and response to treatment.
Nutripuncture
An important pillar of Bakir’s practice has been that I had the enormous good fortune to study with the world renowned Dr. Patrick Veret for over a decade.
He developed a modality called Nutripuncture, based on the work of Nicola Tesla and George Lakhovski in the early 20th century.
Nutripuncture uses special combination of trace minerals to address cellular imprints that modulate gene expression. Nutripuncture’s mineral compounds have an effect on the body’s Bio-Photonic expression which literally impacts every aspect of our health…. physically, mentally, neurologically, emotionally and spiritually.
Nutripuncture enables the her to pinpoint the origin of dysfunction and/or dis-ease so that a healing pathway can be designed. Patients are often stunned by what is revealed in a session.
Her favorite way to conduct an initial session is without knowing anything about the patient so that his/her body can tell me. It is a humbling process to watch my intuition, my experience and the patient’s body’s innate wisdom interface.
Allergy Elimination
An allergy occurs when a person reacts to a substance that is ingested or is in the environment that are harmless to most people. Allergies can be debilitating and cause much suffering to children and adults alike.
Our Allergy Elimination method is based on energy medicine and is quite different from traditional medicine’s approach to allergy treatments. It is completely non-invasive, pain and needle free. We literally re-set your nervous system to recognize the allergens as the harmless substances they are. Please suspend your disbelief for a moment and try something new.
